⭐ Indicator is a special substance which is used to test whether a substance is acidic or basic or neutral in nature or not.

⭐ Litmus is an indicator. Acids turn blue litmus red and bases turn red litmus blue.

⭐ Turmeric is an indicator. There is no effect of acid on turmeric indicator but bases turn yellow turmeric paper to red.

⭐ Red cabbage juice is an indicator. It remains red in acidic solutions but turns green on adding to basic solutions.

⭐ Phenolphthalein is a human made indicator which turns colourless in acidic solutions and turns pink in basic solutions.

⭐ Methyl orange is also another human made indicator which changes to red colour in acidic solution, remains orange in neutral solution and changes to yellow colour in basic solution.
