different organisms  use different strategies to determine sex of new born individual. for eg. the temperature decides the sex in tortoises and snakes. in lizards it is based on season. in human beings it is based on the chromosomes or genes.thus sex can be determined through environmental cues ar genetically determined

in some of the animal sex determination is also controlled by the environmental factor in some reptile the temperature at which the fertilized egg in is incubated before hatching plays a role in determining the sex of offspring it has been found that in turtle high incubation temperature leads to development of female offspring
hope its help you
