There are basically 5 different types:
1. TROPICAL EVERGREEN
2. TROPICAL THORN FORESTS AND SCRUBS
3. TROPICAL DECIDUOUS
4. MONTANE FORESTS
5. MANGROVE FOREST
VEGETATION IN HIGH ALTITUDE:
In mountainous areas the temperature decreases with altitude.First comes the wet temperate forest(1000-2000m) Eg:oak, chestnut etc. Second comes Temperate forest(1500-3000m) Eg: Pine,Deodar etc. At higher altitudes, there is Alpine vegetation Eg: silver fir, junipers etc. Further up we have tundra vegetation which includes mosses and lichens
