decomposition is carried out in three different ways:-

1. Thermal decomposition: when a compound breaks down into simpler elements under the presence of heat.

eg. CaCO3 (s) ---> CaO (s) + CO2 (g) (heat)

2. Electric Decomposition: when a compound breaks down into simpler elements under the presence of electricity.

eg. 2H2O (L) ---> 2H2 (g) + O2 (g)

(electricity)

3. Photo Decomposition: when a compound breaks down into simpler elements under the presence of sunlight.

eg. AgCl (aq) ---> Ag (s) + Cl (g)

(Sunlight)
