Differentciate between speed and velocity

SPEED

  • It is the total path length covered by a  moving body. it does not have direction. Therefore it is a secter quantiy. its SI Unit is m/s or ms-1 or m/s.

  • Eg: distance

VELOCITY

  • The shortest disatance covered by a moving body is  called velocity. It have direction. Therefore it is called vector quantity.

  • Eg: displacement
