Planets are objects that orbits a star and have emough mass to shape itself roughly to a spheroid as well as cleaning up its orbit, making it the dominant mass in its area.
Satellites, natural or artificial, are objects that orbits another object that is NOT a star, and is not a part of a ring system (unless if it’s a shepherd moon, aka a moon that orbits inside a ring and “eats” parts of the ring in its orbit

Planets are heavenly bodies which orbit (travel around ) the sun. They do not have their own light , but reflect light from the sun. Satellites are also heavenly bodies, but much smaller than planets , which they orbit in the same way as planets orbit the sun
