differentiate alcohol and carboxylic acid..plz give me answer fast and lenghty​

Answer:

Carboxylic acid acid will change blue litmus paper into red. (ii)Reaction with sodium hydrogen carbonate – Alcohol has no reaction with sodium hydrogen carbonate (NaHCO3) but in the case of Carboxylic acid it reacts with NaHCO3 which gives CH3COONa, CO2 and H2O.

eg

  1. methanol - CH3OH
  2. ethanol - CH3CH2OH
  3. propanol - CH3CH2CH2OH

and so on.......

Carboxylic acid are carbon compounds with the functional group - COOH

EG

  1. methanoic acid - HCOOH
  2. ethanoic acid - CH3COOH
