Alloy :
A metal made by combining two or more metallic elements, especially to give greater strength or resistance to corrosion.
Eg: Zinc, Bronze, Brass.

Amalgam :
An alloy of mercury with another metal, especially one used for dental fillings.

Amalgam is still an alloy but the composition is different,any substance mixed with mercury is called amalgam,for example sodium amalgam,magnesium amalgam etc.In case of alloys,the constituents are different substances for example copper & tin form brass.
