Answer:

Explanation:

1. National Party:

A national party is one which is recognized in four or more states. For winning recognition in a state it is required to fulfill one of the following conditions:

(i) It should have been engaged in political activity consecutively for a period of 5 years.

(ii) It should have polled not less than 4% of votes polled at the last General Elections or Elections to the State Assembly as the case may be.

(iii) It should have won seats in the Lok Sabha elections in the ratio of one to every 25 Lok Sabha seats or one MLA for every 30 MLAs in the state assembly.

2. Difference between the National Party and Regional Party:

1. National party has influence all over the country or in many states of India. The influence of a regional party is limited to one state or a few regions.

2. National Parties deal with national interests whereas Regional Parties promote only the regional interests. The DMK for an instance poses to be the only custodian of the Dravidian culture. The Congress or the BJP look to the cultivation of Indian culture. The BJP had to drop certain items from its agenda for forming government as a national party at the centre in collaboration with allies.

3. Regional parties crave for more powers for their state and ask for more autonomy. The National Parties harmonies many conflicting regional interests and do not concede the demand if that amounts to a challenge to the National integrity and endangers its sovereignty.
