Preventable communicable, or infectious, diseases like malaria and HIV/AIDS account for millions of deaths in the world each year, especially in low-income countries. Noncommunicable, or chronic, diseases like heart disease and diabetes are having an increasing effect across the globe.

1. Communicable disease
These are passed on from one person to another .
Example -chickenpox
Non communicable disease
These cannot spread from one person to another .
Example - Cancer
2 . Pathogens
Biolgical agents causing diseases (viruses , fungi protozoa etc .) are called pathogens .
Carriers
Organisms which harbour disease causing germs without showing any signs of the disease themselves ,but have the ability to infect other individuals.
