The given below points are few differences between breathing and respiration :

1. Breathing is the phenomenon where air is inhaled in lungs as well as exhaled from the lungs whereas respiration is the phenomenon where glucose is broken down to release energy.

2. Breathing occurs in the organ called lungs but respiration occurs in cells.

Differences among inspiration as well as expiration are :

1. Inspiration is the kind of active type of process while expiration is the process which is of passive process.

2. In inspiration, we take air inside our lungs but in expiration, we expel air from the lungs.

Differennce between a) Breathing and respiration b) Inspiration and expiration :

  • a)  Breathing - Breathing is one of the biophysical processes which involves the inhaling and exhaling of the air by the lungs.
  • Respiration - But the respiration is the biochemical process where the energy is generated after breaking down the glucose and the generated energy will be used by the cells for the different functions of the body.
  • b) Inspiration - Inspiration is the process to take air by the lungs which is called inhalation.
  • Expiration - Expiration is the process where the air pushed out from the lungs which is called exhalation.
