Answer:

Local time implies the time of a place determined on the basis of apparent movement of the sun. Standard time refers to the fixed time for places falling in the same meridian, set in a country by law.

Changes continuously with the change in longitude.

Remains same for a particular country.

Local time implies the time of a particular country, as regards the meridian running through it. On the contrary, standard time is referred as the official local time of a region ascertained by the distance from the Prime Meridian of the meridian running through the area.

2) equator and prime meridian

Equator:

It is an imaginary horizontal latitude which divides the world into northern and southern hemisphere.

It is a 0°latitude.

Prime meridian:

It is an imaginary vertical longitudinal line which divides the world into Western and Eastern hemisphere.

It is a 0°line of longitude.

Answer:

꧁DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LOCAL AND STANDARD TIME꧂

⭆The time in particular region or area is expressed with reference to the meridian passing through it.

⭆ While the time of the meridian that passes through the centre of country is considered the time of meridian of the whole country. This time is called the standard time of that country.

⭆ If the IST is 12:00 noon , the local of Mumbai is 39 minutes - IST = 11.21 minutes a.m.

⭆ Since Mumbai is on 72*82' east longitudes,it is 9*45' behind the 82*30' .Thus the local time of Mumbai is 9.45x 4 = 39 minutes.

꧁DIFFERENCES BETWEEN EQUATOR AND PRIME MERIDIAN꧂

⭆ While equator is 0* latitude, prime meridian is 0* longitude.

⭆While equator divides the earth into parts i.e, Northern hemisphere & southern hemisphere , the prime meridian divides the earth into two equal parts ie, Eastern hemisphere and the Western Hemisphere.

⭆ While equator is a circle the prime meridian is a semi - circle.
