Differentiate between :a. metal and non metals b. metal oxide and non metal oxide c. malleability and ductility
Answers
Answer metal and nonmetal given
Answer:
a) Metals:
1) Metals have one to three electrons in their outer shell,
2) metals tend to lose their valence electrons
3) metals are good conductor of electricity and heat
non metals
1) non metals have four to eight electrons
2)non metals share or gain valence electrons
3) non metals are poor conductor of electricity and heat.
b) Metal oxide and non metals oxide:
The main difference between metal oxide and non metals oxide is that metals oxide are basic compounds whereas non metals oxide are acidic compounds.
c) melleability and ductility
A melleable materials to is one in which a thin sheet can be easily formed by hammering. Eg: gold. Whereas, ductility is the ability of a solid materials to deform under tensile stress.
