Answer:

(a) Differentiate between Plant cell and animal cell:

Plant Cells:

  • They have a definite cell wall which is made up of cellulose.

  • Centrosome is not present in plant cell.

  • They have vaculoes covered by tonoplast which are concerned with excretion or secretion.

  • They contain plastids.

  • The cytoplasm in a plant cell is not so dense.

Animal Cells:

  • They have no cell wall.

  • Centrosome is present in an animal cell.

  • Animal cells generally don't have vaculoes but some cells do have vaculoes but they are small and temporary.

  • They do not contain plastids.

  • The cytoplasm in an animal cell is denser and more granular.

(b) Differentiate between Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic cells:

Prokaryotic Cell:

  • Prokaryotic cells have primitive nucleus.

  • They have only one single length of one deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)

  • They have small ribosomes.

  • They don't have any other cell organelles.

  • Few examples of Prokaryotic cells are Bacteria and blue green algae.

Eukaryotic Cell:

  • They have well defined nucleus with a nuclear membrane.

  • They have several lengths of chromosomes (genetic material) which contains DNA.

  • They have larger ribosomes.

  • They have several organelles such as mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, chloroplasts etc.

  • Few examples of eukaryotic cells are Amoeba, Euglena and all plants and animals.
