Acid is a kind of chemical compound that when dissolved in water gives a solution with H+ ion activity more than purified water. A base is an aqueous substance that donates electrons, accept protons or release hydroxide (OH-) ions. An acid is a proton donor. While a base is a proton acceptor.

ACIDS :-

1) They releases (H+) ions in water .

2) They are sour in taste.

3) They turn blue litmus to red .

4) ph of strong acids is between 1 to 3 .

5) Example :- HCl , H2SO4 etc.

BASES :-

1) They release (OH-) ions in water .

2) They are bitter in taste .

3)They turn red litmus to Blue .

4)ph of Strong Bases is between 11 to 14.

5) Example :- NaOH etc.
