Passive transport doesn't require energy (ATP), active transport does require energy. Passive transport moves molecules WITH the concentration gradient (high to low), while active transport moves molecules AGAINST the gradient (Low to High).

Active transport:
1. The passage of substance is from a lower concentration area to a higher concentration area.
2. Active transport uses energy (ATP).
3. The direction of active transport is upwards.
Passive transport:
1. The passage of substance is from a higher concentration area to lower concentration area.
2. Passive transport does not use energy.
3. The direction of passive transport is downwards.
Hope this helps you.
