Hey dear!!

AEROBIC RESPIRATION

Organisms obtain energy by breaking down sugar (glucose) in the presence of oxygen into carbon dioxide and water.

The process of breaking down of glucose in the presence of oxygen into carbon dioxide and water to produce energy is called cellular respiration or tissue respiration.

Cellular respiration that uses oxygen is called aerobic respiration.

This reaction gives out a lot of energy. It can be written as follows:

Glucose + oxygen ➡ carbon dioxide + water + energy

ANAEROBIC RESPIRATION

Some organisms may break down glucose and release energy even in the absence of oxygen.

The process by which organisms respire in the absence of oxygen is called anaerobic respiration.

This reaction releases very little energy. For example, yeast cells convert glucose into carbon dioxide and ethanol, with release of the energy, without using oxygen.

Glucose ➡ Ethanol + carbon dioxide + energy

Hope helped!!
