The major difference is that the elements in Mendeleev's periodic table were arranged by atomic mass and the modern periodic tablearranges elements by atomic number. Of course as elements are constantly being discovered there were significantly fewer elements in Mendeleev's periodic table.
Through Anaerobic respiration glucose is broken down in absence of oxygen
The chemical equation is:-
C6H12O6(Glucose)
-----[(Glicolysis)(in cytoplasm)]----->
Pyruvate (2 molecules of Pyruvate acid)
-----[(in the absence of Oxygen)(in muscle tissue)]----->
2(Lactic acid + 2ATP(Energy)

Mendeleev
classify on the basis of atomic mass while modern periodic table is classifieds on the basis of atomic number
glucose....... glycolysis (in cytoplasm) .....pyruvate........*(in absence of oxygen) .....2C2H5OH+ 2CO2+2ATP
