Arteries

  1. Carry oxygen rich blood away  from the heart.
  2. Have thick and elastic walls.
  3. They are deeply placed under the  skin and blood moves under high  pressure.
  4. There are no valves inside arteries.

Veins

  1. Carry carbon dioxide rich blood to the  heart.
  2. Have thinner walls
  3. They are superficially placed and blood  does not move under high pressure.
  4. There are valves in the veins which  prevent backflow of blood to the organs.
