In autotrophic mode of nutrition, an organism make its own food by using some organic materials like carbon dioxide, water and sun energy.
ex: Humans.
In heterotrophic mode of nutrition, an organism can't make his food mean i.e. it depends on other organisms for food. we can also say that it depends on autotrophic ones.
ex: algae and cyanobacteria.
