autotrophs make their own food from inorganic substances .Heterotrophs depend on autotrophs and other heterotrophs for their food requirement . Insectivorous plants prepare food by themselves, but they lack some of the vital nutrients such as nitrogen since they grow in soil where nitrogen is deficient. They eat some insects and thus make up for these nutrients. Hence they are said to be partial heterotrophs.
