Classical Thermodynamics: This branch studies the relationships between the State functions of the system that is, Volume, Temperature, Pressure, Energy, Entropy etc. Here, we assume that we don’t know anything about the atoms of our thermodynamics system.

Statistical Thermodynamics: This branch studies how the state functions can be statistically related to the individual microscopic components of the systems. These microscopic components can be described classically or quantum-mechanically, depending on what limit we are in.
