In the nucleus, the DNA double helix is packaged by special proteins (histones) and RNA to form a complex calledchromatin.the chromatin fibers have average diameter of 300 Angstrom, and is basic structural unit of chromosome. The chromatin undergoes further condensation to form thechromosome. So while the chromatinis a lower order of DNA organization, chromosomes are the higher order of DNA organization.Chromatin are unpaired, while chromosomes are paired.Chromatins are found throughout the cell cycle, while distinctly visible chromosomes are found only at metaphase.
