differentiate between chromosome and chromatid

princeparker55: Chromatin is the DNA and proteins that make up chromosomes. Chromosomes are the separate 'pieces' of DNA in a cell (made up of chromatin). Sister chromatids are identical pieces of DNA held together by a centromere and pulled apart during cell division to make new identical chromosomes in the newly made cells.

Chromosome is comprised of two sister or non sister chromatids depending upon the type and a centromere and sometimes satellite DNA or as we call it secondary constriction

The chromosome are made up of two chromatids which are joined by the Centromere. The chromatids separate from each other during mitosis to form two new chromosomes. The DNA making up a chromosome is dispersed as chromatin. Each copy is called a chromatid.
