A centripetal force is required to keep something spinning. With the planets, that force is gravity. But if you throw in Einstein's general relativity, all bets are off. Rectilinear Linear motion refers to a motion in a straight path whereas circular motion refers to motion in a circular path.

circular motion means the movement of an object along it's circumference of a circle or a rotation along it's circular path .
rectilinear motion means motion along a strait line
