Differentiate between cold current and warm current

Ocean current is the general movement of a mass of oceanic water in a definite direction, which is more or less similar to water streams flowing on the land surface of the earth. Ocean currents are most powerful of all the dynamics of oceanic waters because these drive oceanic waters for thousands of kilometers away.

Ocean surface currents have several causes. But, predominately they’re caused by the effects of prevailing winds. They are a key mechanism for moving heat energy to the higher latitudes away from the equatorial zone.

Generally, the ocean currents move in a circular pattern that is clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and counter-clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere. The warm current leg travels away from the equator and the cold current leg of the loop travels towards the equator.

The ocean currents dramatically effect the climates of nearby land masses. For example the well known Gulf Stream is a warm current that travels along the Eastern United States before it crosses over the Europe as the North Atlantic Current. Considering the fact that Northern Europe is a roughly the same latitudes as Hudson’s Bay Canada, there remains enough heat energy from the original Gulf Stream to keep Europe warmer than it should be.

WARM CURRENTS HAVE LOW DENSITY IN CAMPRISON WITH COLD CURRENTS.

WARM CURRENT FLOWS FROM EQUATOR TO POLAR AREAS AND VICE VERSA

Cold currents have more salinity rate while warm currents have low.

It was already answered by some of few, but, if you want to know in detail about ocean currents like what is ocean current, types of ocean currents, where and how do they form, drivers for these currents etc,. I have uploaded two videos on ocean currents in you tube. Herewith i am attaching the link of those videos.

Better to see and ask me if you have any doubts. hope those may useful to you.

or else just search in you tube as “ocean currents part 1”. you can get those videos.
