differentiate between columnar and ciliated epithilial tissue

Columnar Epithilium
​Single layer , tall pillar like cells
more protection than cuboidal epithilium
​Found in Inner lining of intestine.
Respiratory tract has ciliated columnar cells which push mucus forward



Cuboidal Epithilium:
Single layer, cube shaped cells.
lesser protection than columnar epithilium.
Found in Kidney tubules , ducts of salivary glands.

Columnar Epithelial Tissue

  • Tall, column like, or pillar like structure.
  • It is present in Instestinal walls and Stomach wall.
  • Its functions are, absorbtion, secretion, and to facilitate movement across the Epithelial barriers.

Ciliated Epithelial Tissue

  • It is a columar Epithelium with hair like structures, with slender shaped cells. (uni-layered)
  • It is present in the Respiratory tract, Fallopian tubes, Uterus.
  • Its function is to direct the movement of substances.
