Combination reaction:
- Two or more substances combine together to form a single products.
- A + B→AB.
- Heat is released during the chemical reaction, exothermic in nature.
- Heat, light, electricity and catalyst may not be required to completed the reaction.
- eg: 2Mg + O2→ 2MgO
Displacement reaction:
- A single reactant break down or decomposes into two or more simpler products.
- AB→ A + B
- Heat is absorbed from the surroundings during chemical reaction, endothermic in nature.
- Heat, light, electricity and catalyst may be required to completed the reaction.
- EG: 2Pb(NO3)2 → 2PbO + 4NO2+ O2
