Difference Between Convergent and Divergent Lens

Convergent Lens

• A convergent lens is also known as the convex lens

• It is used in converging the ray of light hitting the mirror

• This lens is used in the cases where a person is suffering from myopia also called as short sightedness

• They have positive Focal Length

• They form diminished images

• It is thicker at the middle and thinner at the edge

Divergent Lens

• A divergent Lens is also known as a concave lens

• It is used in diverging the light rays that hit the mirror

• The lens is used on correcting the eye sight of people suffering from Hypermetropia, also called as long sightedness

• They have a negative focal length

• It is thinner at the middle and thicker at the edges
