Cortical nephron:
- constitute about 85% of total.
- malpighian corpuscles are located close to the kidney surface.
-loop of henle mostly confined to the cortex and very small part runs into the medulla.
- vasa recta is absent.
Juxtamedullary nephrons:
- about 15% of total.
- malpighian corpuscles are located at the junction of cortex and medulla.
- loop of henle of these nephrons are long and enter deep down into the medulla.
- vasa recta present.
