Cottage or household industry- These are the smallest manufacturing units. In cottage industry , a craftsman manufactures the goods by using locally available raw material. He carries out the work at home where his family members join him in making the goods, for example, potter
Large scale industry- Large scale industry uses heavy machinery which is driven by power . It requires a wide variety of raw materials , large scale investment and force work to manufacture the final products . The examples of such industries are iron and steel.

The cottage industries:-

The large scale industries:-

a) They are the largest and the least manufacturing industries.

b) They require a wide variety of raw materials, large scale investment of money, and work force to manufacture the final product.

c) Large Scale industries uses heavy machinery ,which is driven by power to make the goods.
Ex. Iron and Steel, Textile, Heavy machines and tool, etc.
