Explanation:

There isn't much difference: both copy the content of the old file into a new file with the same content. ... cp allows you to specify a directory as the destination: the file is copied to have the same name as the original, in the new directory.

=> mv command in Unix: mv is used to move or rename the files but it will delete the original file while moving. cp command in Unix: cp is used to copy the files but like mv it's not delete the original file means original file remain as it is.
