Crust - Crust is the uppermost layer on the earth ‘s surface . It is the thinnest of all layers . It is about 35 km on the continental crust and only 5 km on the oceanic floor . The continental crust is made up of silica and alumina ( si + al = sial ) thus it is called sial . The oceanic floor consists of silica and magnesium ( si + ma = sima) thus , it is called sima .

Mantle - Mantle is the layer beneath crust that extends about 2900 km .

Core - Core is the innermost layer that is made up of nickel and ferrous like iron ( ni + fe = nife ) . The central core has high pressure and temperature.

Crust - 1%
Mantle - 84%
Core - 15% of the earth
