Diffusion: It is the spontaneous movement of materials from a region of higher concentration or diffusion pressure to a region of lower concentration or diffusion pressure due to tendency of their molecules to spread uniformly.

It is the passive movement of water or any other solvent molecules from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower water concentration through a semipermeable membrane.
