Direct democracy is where citizens themselves vote for or against specific proposals or laws. Some city states in Ancient Greece had this system.

Direct democracy is also called pure democracy. The democracy in which leaders are elected by majority of people rules is called direct democracy. Example- Greece

Indirect democracy is also called representative democracy. Here people select theirs representative who will again vote for the final ruler. Example- India
