Differentiate between displacement reaction and double displacement
reaction on the basis of definition and example.
Answers
Answer:
In a displacement reaction, a more reactive element replaces a less reactive element from a compound. In a double displacement reaction, two atoms or a group of atoms switch places to form new compounds. In a displacement reaction, one displacement takes place.
Hey mate this is your answer.....
➡️ Displacement Reaction:-
▶️ In a displacement reaction one highly reactive atom from a reactant or product is displaces anoth low reactive atom.
A + BC ➡️ AC + B
▶️For example :- Zn + CuSO4 ---> ZnSo4 + Cu
Here Zinc is more reactive than copper. So they displace copper from its compund.
➡️ Double Displacement Reaction:-
▶️ In a double Displacement Reaction two highly reactive atoms from a reactant or product displaces another low reactive atoms.
AB + CD ➡️ AD + BC
▶️For example :- Na2SO4 + BaCl2 ----> BaSO4 + 2 NaCl
Here The white precipitate of BaSO4 is formed by reaction of SO(2-^ 4).
The other products formed is sodium chloride which remains in the solution. Such reaction in which there is an exchange of ions between the reactant are called double Displacement Reaction.
Hope it helps!☺️
