Distance

  • It is the length of the path travelled by a object in a certain time.
  • It is a scalar quantity.
  • It is always positive.
  • It depends on the path followed by the object.
  • Distance cannot be zero.

Displacement

  • It is the shortest distance between the initial and final positions.
  • It is a vector quantity.
  • It doesn't depends on the path followed by the object.
  • Displacement may or may not be zero.
