"Dominant Gene:

1. Dominant genes are those which express the dominant trait in a species.

2. Dominant genes can either be homozygous or heterozygous, that is, it can possess either both the ""dominant alleles"" or ""one dominant"" and ""one recessive allele"".

3. Example: Smooth seed coat of peas.

Recessive Gene:

1. Recessive genes are those which express the recessive trait in a species.

2. Recessive genes are always homozygous, that is, both the alleles are recessive.

3. Example: Wrinkled seed coat of peas."
