A decomposition reaction is when a single compound 'A' reacts to break down into its constituents. A double decomposition reaction is when both the reactants say 'A’ and ‘B’ decompose to form their respective constituents and these combine. Like

A+B -> A1+ + A2- + B1+ and B2- and the opposite cations and anions combine to form A1B2 and A2B1

In a displacement reaction the more reactive element displaces the less reactive one from the compound. In a double displacement reaction again the 2 compounds break into their constituents and these combine alternatively.
