Hi.
Question
Differentiate between the electromagnet and permanent magnet.
Answer.
Difference between Permanent Magnet and Electromagnet is given in the following paragraphs and points.
➡In Electromagnet, the magnetic field is created by the wire wounded by the coil but the magnetic field of Permanent Magnet cannot be changed.
➡ The strength of Permanent Magnet depends on the material used for its creation, And the strength of Electromagnet goes according to the flow of electric current into it. There are three types of Permanent (Bar) Magnets are Ceramic Magnet, Flexible magnets, Neodymium iron boron magnet, and Samarium cobalt magnet. Each has its own applications and types.
The South – North polarity of a permanent magnet is fixed and they cannot be changed
➡In Permanent magnet, Its strength cannot be changed or altered.
The South – North polarity of a permanent magnet can be changed by changing the direction of the current in the coil.
➡In Electromagnet, Its strength can be changed by changing the current in it or by changing the number of turns in it.
