Fog- Fog is a cloud that reaches ground level, even if that "ground" is a hill or mountaintop.

Mist- Mist forms wherever water droplets are suspended in the air by temperature inversion, volcanic activity, or changes in humidity.

awalii's answer: the only difference between fog and mist is visibility.

awalii's explanation: fog and mist are almost the same! they're both clouds. however, fog is a cloud that you can see less than 1k meters away. if you can see the cloud more than 1k meters away, it's mist!
