Differentiate between free state and combined state. ( in metals)

metals which appear solo, which means they are not mixed with other particles & impurities present in the surrounding are said to be in free state in nature..metals which appear to be mixed with other particles & impurities present in the surrounding are said to be in combined state in nature.
