Contact force is a general term for any force that two objects exert on each other because they're in contact. The component of the contact force that is normal to the contact surface is called normal force and the parallel component is called friction. When you shoot a ball, you're exerting force on it

Answer :

Don't confuse yourself.

There are two major kinds of force

  1. Contact force
  2. Non - contact force.

In that friction is a kind of force comes under the first type contact force.

CONTACT FORCE :

Contact force is a force that is applied by objects in contact with each other.

FRICTION :

Friction is the resistance to motion of one object moving relative to another.

it is the result of the electromagnetic attraction between charged particles in two touching surfaces.

Example : You can't move a block of wood from a surface sometimes because there exists a force of attraction which is frictional force.

It is not a fundamental force as Gravity or electromagnetic force.
