Hii..
There are total 46chromosomes present in human body...i.e 23pairs..
But in human gametes there are only 23 chromosomes...this condition is known as haploid i.e chromosomal number becomes half (n)...
The first condition is known as diploid where 46 chromosomes r present (2n)
The second condition of gametes or sex cells is haploid i.e half of 46 i.e 23 chromosomes only present(n)..
hope this helps!!

In general diploid cells basically contain two complete set of chromosome(2n) where as haploid cells have half the number of chromosomes(n) as diploid, in other words haploid cells only contain one complete set of chromosome. They also differ in their division and growth. Diploid cells reproduce by mitosis resulting in production of daughter cells that are exact replicates. Haploid cells are product of meiosis.
meiosis is a typical cell division in where diploid cells divide and give rise to haploid germ cells, and a haploid cells merge with another haploid resulting in fertilization e.g. egg and sperm.
Example of diploid include, skin cells, blood cells, muscles cells.
Example of haploid include, sexual reproduction cells such as sperm and ova.
