Inert gases are the gases that belong to group 18 of the periodic table, they are He, Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe and Rn. They have fully filled last shells and hence are very stable and mostly do not form compounds. Also known as noble gases. Halogens are group 17 elements that are highly reactive as they are one electron short of attaining the stable noble gas configuration. They are F, Cl, Br and I.
