When the Diaphragm moves downwards and the chest cavity moves moves upward it allows air to enter to enter the lungs. This is called inhalation.
When the Diaphragm moves upwards and the chest cavity moves downwards it pushes the air outside to exit the lungs. this is called Exhalation.
