INLAND WATERWAYS - Inland waterways exists in the form of rivers, canals, backwaters and creeks . This is used to transport goods from one place to another inside a mass of land . India have an extensive network of Inland Waterways . The total navigable length is 14,500 km, out of which about 5200 km of the river and 4000 km of canals can be used by mechanised crafts.
OCEANIC WATERWAYS - In this form of waterways the goods are usually transfered from one land mass to another from the oceans and the seas . In this process the goods are usually passed through some specific routes or sea routes eg. The Mediterranean-Indian ocean sea route , The Cape of Good Hope sea route etc .
