Isotopes have the same atomic number, while isobars have the same atomic mass. Isotopes : Isotopes are atoms that have same atomic number but different mass numbers. Isotopes have the same atomic number because the number of protons inside their nuclei rema.

Isotope - The elements which have same atomic numbers but different atomic mass are called isotopes. Example - Carbon 12 and Carbon 14.

Isobars - The elements which have same atomic mass but different atomic number are called isobars. Example -  Sulfur 40 and Chlorine 40.
