The Girondists and the Jacobinswere the two of the most important clubs during the revolution. The Girondins were a more moderate thinking group. Jacques Pierre Brissot, Jean-Marie Roland and his wife Marie Roland were strong supporters of the Girondin club.

The Jacobin clubs was the most important group of the French Revolution. This group was best known for its extreme egalitarianism and brutality and served the Revolutionary government in France.

Earlier the Girondist were a part of the Jacobins but later the Jacobins split into two groups the Jacobins and the Girondists. The Girondists believed more in the moderate thinking. Following are the differ-ences between the two groups:

1. The members of the Jacobin group were practical while the Girondists were limited to academic learning.

2. The Jacobin group followed militant methods for achieving independence whereas, the Girondists took action with law and justice.

3. Initially, the Jacobins were advocates of a democratic form of government and the Girondists sup-ported the constitutional monarchy, but later on, a shift in the political view of the Girondists can be seen from constitutional monarchy to a democratic government.
