differentiate between ligaments and tendons
Answers
A ligament is the fibrous connective tissue that connects bones to other bones. It is also known as articular ligament, articular larua, fibrous ligament, or true ligament. Other ligaments in the body include the: Peritoneal ligament: a fold of peritoneum or other membranes.
FUNCTION: Connect bones to other bones; maintain position of organs.
A tendon or sinew is a tough band of fibrous connective tissue that connects muscle to bone and is capable of withstanding tension. Tendons are similar to ligaments; both are made of collagen.
FUNCTION: Attach muscles to structures such as the eyeball.
Tendons attach muscles to structures such as the eyeball. A tendon serves to move the bone or structure whereas A ligament is a fibrous connective tissue which attaches bone to bone, and usually serves to hold structures together and keep them stable.
